Morcheeba – Enjoy The Ride lyrics
(feat. Judy Tzuke)

Shut the gates and sunset
After that you can't get out
You can see the bigger picture
Find out what it's all about
You're open to the skyline
You won't want to go back home
In a garden full of angels
You will never be alone

But oh the road is long
The stones that you are walking on
Have gone

With the moonlight to guide you
Feel the joy of being alive
The day that you stop running
Is the day that you arrive

And the night that you got locked in
Was the time to decide
Stop chasing shadows
Just enjoy the ride

If you close the door to your house
Don't let anybody in
It's a room that's full of nothing
All that underneath your skin
Face against the window
You can't watch it fade to grey
And you'll never catch the fickle wind
If you choose to stay

But oh the road is long
The stones that you are walking on
Have gone

With the moonlight to guide you
Feel the joy of being alive
The day that you stop running
Is the day that you arrive

And the night that you got locked in
Was the time to decide
Stop chasing shadows
Just enjoy the ride

Stop chasing shadows
Just enjoy the ride

Maybe cause I was reading a lot about buddhism lately the lyrics remind me so much of buddhism teaching. Stop living in delusions, let go of your attachments ('stop chasing shadows'); your suffering will stop when you realize that as humans we are not universe on our own, everyone is good by nature, they might be just subject to their delusions, realizing that, learning how to forgive others, to be compassionate will lead us to the true path of happiness ('in a garden full of angels you will never be alone'). And we all have this potential to reach this state 'you're open to the skyline', 'you can see the bigger picture'- we need to look out of our own lives and problems, overcome our ignorance to see this true potential. The time you stop running after these delusions is the time you'll be liberated- ' the day that you stop running is the day that you arrive'. Stop chasing things that won't make you happy, just be present, let go of all negative feelings and embrace the positive things around you ('stop chasing shadows just enjoy the ride') . That's just my interpretation.

For me, this is a song of accepting, of coming of age, relaxing from our exuberant youthful pursuits. You feel better when you aren't tensed by difficult endeavors. Shadows are not the cause but the effect. The pursuit or chasing of shadows tells that we aren't gaining on the goal. We need time for reflection on the pursuits we've achieved.

I don't think its about death! If you start wondering about the meaning of life eventually you will realize that it's about being open to everything and everyone and doing as many things as you can and in the end each of these may lose its importance. On the other hand if you are afraid and effortlessly deny thinking about it you will be imprisoned by your fear or ignorance and go through life in an automode losing experiences you 'd have had if you were to realize your possibilities. So the solution is to just take your thoughts to the next level (forgetting about all these that don 't mean anything anymore) and just enjoy the moment realizing its importance but also without any expectations. Just. Enjoy!
